Dave, This is just a way out there thought I had, but here goes. Is it at all possible that the battery that is supposed to keep things in check, like the system clock has died? Anyone feel free to correct me on this, as I said, this is just a wild guess. But when that battery dies, the system doesn't keep anything in it's memory, I would assume that this would also mean system settings? Or is the problem only with Skype. Have these program settings problems shown up anywhere else other than Skype. I'm probably wrong on this, but sometimes you find the solutions in the most unlikely places. Just a thought. Jack

They have Jaws 10 and that is it. The operating system is Windows XP home, so at least that isn't as bad as it could be. I still get occasional calls asking me to support 98, even though Microsoft hasn't supported it in nearly four years. Unloading and reloading Jaws is something that I'd definitely try if I was working on the machine directly. Since the only way I can work on it is in a tandem session, that isn't practical. After rebooting, no contact can be found, although open conversation windows can be. This gives little comfort because none of the navigation tricks that are generally used ie tab/shift tab, up/down arrows, etc. reveals anything. When I re-install 4.2, all is fine for the rest of the day, or until the machine is rebooted, which ever comes first. I've fixed it now twice. I had a request to fix it the third day, but quite frankly, I'm stalling for time. I'm travelling, so I have a reasonably good excuse of my own, but deeper down, I can't really see the point in fixing it unless I can fix it in a way that will offer more longevity than history shows is likely. Skype talking is something I have considered, but haven't recommended it openly in this case because they don't necessarily want many of the extra information it affords, and for sure, they aren't interested in anything requiring three and four finger keystrokes which of course, you have to be willing to accept to navigate Skype talking.
