Yes, Emma, the same thing happened to me when I tried to update Skype 4.2
from within Skype itself. After I'd downloaded it, I was told I still had
Skypàe version 4.2.0.152 which was the previous version I had.
But I reinstalled the new version after downloading the installer from the
Skype website, and now if I check the version it is 4.2.0.163 which is what
it is supposed to be after the upgrade. So I suggest, Emma, that you try
going to the Skype website to get your new version, rather than doing the
upgrade from Skype itself. I don't know why one way doesn't work and the
other way does, but at least I've been able to upgrade successfully now.
I haven't yet noticed any difference between the previous version of 4.2 I
had and the one I've upgraded to now, but perhaps the changes are inr parts
of Skype I don't use, or perhaps they concern the problem with Skype in the
taskbar in Windows 7, a problem I don't have because I'm using Windows XP.

Oh by the way, I had skype, the latest, 0.158 and when I went to check if
there was an upgrade it said there was. It said it was quite a big
download so I naturally downloaded it. Well guess what, it was the same
and unless I missed something it just reupdated itself to the version I
had. Before I upgraded it said I had that version. Hmm, I wonder if anyone
else has had that.
