Hi Larry!
The way I've generally solved this is to first verify that Skype is started
after the screen reader. If you've verified that and it is still happening,
download the new hidden script set at
http://www.dlee.org/skype/jfw-skr484beta.exe which you must get to directly
that way.

I have a friend who can't read his instant messages received from others
in the skype window.
He uses Alt+1 etc and hears, Not in message window.
I used to know the answer to this one but my brain is failing me.
