Can you not close the conversations? I don't like that increasing number
every time I do anything like accept a contact or answer a call. Thanks.

did you also update the scripts? Skype 3.8 scripts won't work with Skype
4.x.
If you did, you can do like this:
1. press ctrl+2 for the conversation list;
2. scroll with harrows, and when you hear that a name is followed by
anumber, press applications / send im.
Note that step 2 is valid especially in compact view, and I don't know
exactly how it works in default view since i never used it.
