Hey Allison,
yeah you can do it by calling one person and then selecting the others and
choose applications and invite to conference, and this works for every Skype
version as far as I know. With 3.8 though, you can select only the first
person, go to Call menu, and choose create a conference; here you select the
other members and press "Start". So the conference will start and call all
people at once.
