hi
i have managed to move the microphone over to the left of the speakers.
a bit further than it was.
it is on top of my sonata box not really where i wanted it as the speaker
for the sonata box is on top of the device so the microphone is partly
covering the loudspeaker of the sonata box.
however this will have to do for now.
when i get an extension cable i may be able to move it somewhere else.
i tried the call test centre and i can still hear my voice so now i wait for
someone to talk to on skype and ask if there is any improvement
i will let the group know how this progresses and of course if this has
solved the issue.

I think the answer is most likely that your speaker is so close to the mic
that it picks it up. You have two choices, find a way to move the speaker
farther from the mic or use the headphones.

i am using a desktop style microphone connected to the soundcard.
and speakers on your computer?
the speakers are also connected to the soundcard
the soundcard is a real tech audio 97 or whatever it is called.
If not, are your speakers set at a high
volume?
the speakers are set to a comfortable to listen to volume.
not too loud and not to quiet.
How close to your mic are the speakers?
the speakers are either side of the monitor and the microphone is next to
one of the speakers
there is no room on this computer trolley to put it anywhere else.
Have you tried using a
headset to listen rather than the speakers?
yes that was mentioned in the email, no one hears my screen reader if i
use
headphones they only hear it when i am not using headphones.
If they hear your JAWS it indicates that they are hearing your speakers or
there is an assignment issue with your sound card. Can you let us know
what
you have going and what you have tried?
all i have tried is turn the volume down or use headphones
i have no idea on configuring the soundcard or anything like that
and of course i am using jaws 10 and windows xp

i am sending this email to 3 groups as I am unsure which of them would be
best suited for the problem I am encountering.
The groups I am sending this to are.
Blind computing, jaws, and skype.
Now the problem itself.
For some time now I have had this annoying issue where whenever I talk to
anyone on skype they can hear my jaws screen reader coming back through
their loudspeakers.
They have not said they hear it if I use headphones.
However although they hear jaws speaking I am unable to hear their screen
reader.
I have asked some people and no one can find the reason why or how to
prevent it happening.
So I am writing to each of these 3 lists in the hope that someone can
shed
some light on the subject and tell me what is happening what causes it,
and
how I can put a stop to it once and for all
