hi,
it sounds like you might have sounds disabled.
to fix this do the following.
go to tools and options and then to sounds. tab over to the button that
reads enable all sounds and press that button.
let us know if this helps.

Hi All,
I currently have Skype, 4.2.187 on my computer. When I make a call to
someone, I don't hear the ring, and therefore don't know if the call went
through or not. If they answer that's fine, but I should be able to hear
the ring as I have in the past. Also, the answer and hang up keys make no
sound now. I have the hot keys checked, but I'm not hearing sounds for
the ring, when I call someone, and the answer and hang up sounds. I am
running windows 7, with jaws 12 on a 64 bit machine. I just switched to
time Warner cable from Verizon DSL. Could that have something to do with
it? When I connect with someone on Skype the conversation is very clear.
So am frustrated here. Jim
