as I regularly change my hot keys for this program I can tell you that the
new keys will take effect right away when you change them and will be
effective for program updates unless of course the key is renamed or
removed.

simply open SkypeTalking options by pressing alt+ctrl+shift+p, and try to
change the hotkey at your best liking. There's an hotkey section wich lets
you do that. Note that I never changed hotkeys myself and so I do not know
if these settnings will be saved as further program updates become
