When I boot the computer and have loaded skype talking it connects to skype then when I go to desktop to bring up skype so I can get to my contacts it isn't visible so have to go to system tray click on skype go to open and enter. Then altV and go to whatever view is available. Today it was default view as yesterday I made it compact view. I am using XP and JFW11. Short of reinstalling skype is there anything else I could try?
