Hey there, Steph, Brian Zolo here in Gahanna, Ohio, feel free to call me BZ, I used to have a logitech headset with the same problem, the driver would just go south even though I didn't unplug it, I ended up getting a plantronics headset, the audio 655 and I've never had that problem since.
