Hi! The reason that the checkboxes in the sounds options in Skype show up as checked and unchecked on your 64-bit computer, Jim, is because you use the JAWS scripts. Those of us who use another screenreader, such as me, a full-time NVDA user on this Windows 7 64-bit laptop I have, the checkboxes show up in the sound options, but they always show up as unchecked, so I had to configure my sound options for Skype with some trial and error. I'm glad to hear that Doug has reported this problem: here's hoping Skype will take notice and do something about those checkboxes! At least all of us non-JAWS users can be grateful that our screenreaders read the checkboxes in other parts of the Skype options correctly, even if they don't yet do so in the options for sounds!
