Hi! I can see where you're coming from with your question, Jimbo, and your answer to that question makes sense, Sarah. However, we don't have to let Skype automatically adjust our audio. In the audio settings in the Skype options, there are checkboxes for the options "Automatically adjust microphone settings" and "automatically adjust speaker settings", so, if those are unchecked, Skype shouldn't make a mess of your microphone and speaker volumes. I have those checkboxes unchecked here, which I've done for a long time, ever since an alarming experience on my old computer where my system volume went down to 30% without me touching anything, and I was told Skype might have caused that to happen. Obviously, it's up to other Skype users whether they leave the checkboxes I mentioned above on their default setting, which is having them checked, or whether they uncheck them like I always do.
