Hi Morey. First of all, welcome to the list. I hope you'll find it helpful

Secondly, for a variety of reasons, I'd strongly urge you to upgrade to the
latest stable release of Skype, which I believe is 5.6. I know many people
believe that 3.8 is the most accessible version, but the accessibility in
5.6 is good as well although the interface is different. Just remember to
update your JAWS scripts to the latest release, which is version 55a
revision 689. You can get the latest JAWS scripts from:
www.dlee.org/skype
Also, there's a program called Skype Talking, which announces contact status
changes and who's calling. It also helps with accessibility. You can get
it from:
http://skypetalking.googlecode.com

Subject: [Skypeenglish] New Member and first question
Hello all,
I am using Win/7 Home Premium and Jaws 13, along with Skype 3.8. And this
is my first question. The version of Skype I am using works for the
basics, as i do not need voice mail and other things for now. Have been
using this version for 2-3 years. With my version of Windows and Jaws the
sounds features such as the typing soundand Skype watch do not work now.
Should I be using a newer version of Skype for these things to work, or
how do I get them to work??
I have tried installing the 5.1 version of Skype, but that shut down
mysystem. No fun.
Hope I have not exceeded my welcome on my first day.
