Try using Vertual Audio Cable for recording.
And a recording program like Audacity.

Hi,

I find the regular skype perfectly accessible, and have not found this to be the killer app many have found. However, for a version 1 product, it's pretty nice, and will make the skype experience more pleasant for many. I'm recommending it to a few friends who are, for whatever reason, petrified of skype 4.x 5.x. It's a sad commentary that GW had to do this, but ah well. They did, and good on skype for putting this info out.

This is version 1, so my comments here may become invalidated at any point in time.

Here's my impressions.
posatives
1. Clean interface.
2. works with fb, like I really care.
3. It uses about 10 meg less than skype on my machine. In an audio tweet, I commended them for using a meg of ram, but that was a rogue process left over for some reason. 4. It shows my skype out contacts with my regular contacts. This is quite nice, if I'm just going down my list, looking for someone random to call. Doesn't normally bother me, since I type in part of the name. a note, you can't type in part of a name, and land there. You hit w, and you're taken to the w, if you hit i for wiliam, you're taken back to the is. Some people like the ability to type in names, other don't. shrug.

5. More short cut keys to access things. Some of them I use, others I don't, but it is a good thing to have. 6. Voicemails can be told to pop up, and you can play or delete with different buttons. With skype talking, I've axidently hit the key combo 3 times, and deleted a voicemail .. woopsies. 7. One does not have to tab over to the dialpad button. This should be noted in the gwmicro manual. Once you've made a skypeout call, the numbers maically work!
8. Well laid out manual.
things i don't like.

1. Not full access to options yet. This means your audio levels will be controled by skype. It also means that you can't set things like who can chat you or call you. As far as I can tell, what you set in regular skype does not count in this version. I have to do more testing first. 2. It assumes that you want to join someone to a conference. If you're talking to some friends, and your mom calls, it would be nice to be given a choice. Put people on hold, talk to mom, return to original call. Since I use skype in, this is a real problem for me. I hate when programs make assumptions grrrrrrr. 3. As far as I can tell, the notifications are an all or nothing toggle. There's no way to detell this interface which notifications are spoken, and which are kept silent. 4. There's no way, to my knowledge to turn sounds off. Even if notifications are off, this program keeps bonging away. Easily fixed, replace the files with silent ones, but why should I have to do this?

Skype reports someone as online or whatever, a program like windows messenger only bings when someone actually signs in. So, with constant status changes, it can grow noisy rather quickly. 5. This may not matter to many, but if you're going to use an addon to record skype calls, you'll still have to keep your regular skype around. No interface to external programs. 6. I'm such a geek that I used the skype:/skypename to create shortcut commands to call someone, can't use them. Btw, if skype is unloaded, and one uses a skype:/skypename command, it will load skype, and call. I have this setup for a few people, never let it be said that lazyness doens't pay off. It's such a minor and trivial thing that I only mention it for any one else who has something like this setup.
bugs I've found.

1. Sometimes, when I alt tab away, the program closes itself.
2. I had to restart NVDA, it switched to sap. I'm not sure if one can change the SAPI voice or not, didn't see a way to do it, but maybe I missed it.

I think that, for many people, this will make their skype experience much more productive and beneficial. I can't say that personally, but I do eagerily await the future of this program. I think now is the time to give feedback, and more importantly, tell them how much this program means to you.
