In my copy of windows 7 32 bit it's just sndvol. so maybe try that and see if ti works. if not then do this.
1. hit windows b for the system tray. 2. navigate to the speakers icon. 3. hit shift f10 and hit enter on recording controls. 4. down arrow to your mic if you have more then 1 and control tab to levels. You should be able to adjust levels there. Good luck.
