Hello,
there should be a chat window where you find the accept button, otherwise go
to the conversations list, look for the one with the person who sent
request, press applications key and choose Add to contacts.
BTW, the update is that with Skype 6.6 I had to accept a contact request and
the chat was automatically popped open.
