let me contradict you a little...
I think with JAWS,default vs compact view is a user-preference question. I
personally use compact view, since I am used to have separate chat Windows.
I don't know which issues you encountered with compact view though, we could
start a poll if mod agrees...
I cannot express myself with Window Eyes since I don't use it.
