Actually the unread messages feature only works in skype. Gw connect will not indicate wether or not a message is read. This feature is really useful and I have found it works well. For example if someone like my dad for example calls me or sends me a message when I select his name from the contact list it will show if he has done anything I havn't read or called me what ever. Any event is treated as a unread message. I still say the unread flag should show up after the name not before. Showing up before is not consistant with the way windows does things. Well at least the way information is reported. Usualy you see name description state role clearly the name should be just the contacts name. description should of course be the contacts extended id status if off line last seen mood text and of course wether or not you have any messages unread. Then of course the state should be selected or not selected. Then of cour the role is list item. I also think the number of unread events should be reported. Verces just saying unread messages it might be more useful to say x missed calls x voice messages x chat messages. This way I know if I should bother to go in to the event list. For example if my dad calls me and it just says x missed calls. Then there is no need to go in to the event list to figure out what he did I can just call him back. if on the other hand he has sent me voice mail then it would say x missed calls x voice messages then I would know that I actually need to go over to the event list to check it out. Using a keyboard going to the event list is not that big of a deal but if you are using a touch screen going over there is more work and it would be better to know why you are doing it before you do it. another good reason for the name to speak first is this. lets say I am exploring buy touch I really need the name spoken first. For example if I here unread so and so I wait to wait for the unread information to speak to find out who I just put my fingur on. If it said the name first I could go ok this is who I want or not and quickly move to the next object. This is also true if I am moving threw the contact list. Sorry I know I have maid similar points in the past but the way this works right now really slows the user down especially when using touch.

I've had the same thing happen to me, then after opening a chat with that contact, the announcement disappears.
