A while ago Michele gave some instructions on how to hide these ads. Below
is the original message. Hope this helps. It applies only to Internet
Explorer but I presume there must be something similar in the Firefox
settings or whatever browser you're using

Ok guys,
I recently knew that some users had troubles where chats were hard to manage
since a sort of html window appeared, with Skype 6.14 for Windows. In order
to fix it, do the following:
1. open Internet Explorer;
2. go to Tools / Internet Options;
3. press ctrl+tab till you find the security tab;
4. press right arrow till you find something like, "restricted sites". You
may hear nothing at the first pressure, no panic and keep on pressing in
each case;
5. press tab till you land on the sites button and space;
6. if you immediately land on add button, press shift+tab till you find an
edit box;
7. insert this string in the edit box: https://apps.skype.com;
8. press tab to go back to the add button, and activate it with space;
9. hit the Close button, then Ok.
Unfortunately I can't give right directions if you normally use a different
browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome but are encountering the same
problem.
