I don't know for sure, but I've seen a Skype Garage blog post recently about
"retiring older versions of Skype". Users are encouraged to use Skype 6.16
or the version for modern Windows. Don't know if that means they'll deny
access to a user who is running an older version.

Subject: [Skypeenglish] Question on Skype versions for Windows

Hey guys,
on an Italian mailing lists, one user is reporting that he cannot sign
into Skype, he tries to use a bit old version meaning 6.6.0.106, and the
system warns that he needs to upgrade in order to sign in.
Does anyone know if users are forced to use more recent versions,
especially when using a 64 bit system?
Bye!
Barbuz
