Quite a while back, I made the decision to stop supporting JAWS versions older than the latest update to JAWS 11, so that I could start using a lot of powerful features in the JAWS scripting language that were added in JAWS 11. I did not predict that Microsoft would so bluntly cut off access to older Skype versions, but they have now done so. This means, sorry to say, that there is no longer a feasible way to use Skype with JAWS 9 unless you use it without scripts. You can, of course, do that though. I predict that if your friend has not already been forced to upgrade to Skype 6.18, this will happen soon.
