I'm with Claire on this one.
I never had MSN, so I can't comment.
Truth is, I was a bit annoyed when microsoft didn't allow my skype 3.8 to
connect any more, which actually worked better with XP and the right
scripts.
Anyway, new Skype, new scripts, and you all chipping in and helping solve
the problems I had, we're good to go; back to normal with skype 6.18 and
windows 7.
All solved in less than a week.

it's the age-old story, clare, there are too many blind people out there
willing to complain before they actually use the product.
we/they get used to using one product and that is it. they are not willing
to try something new.

Microsoft has not ruined Skype at all, in my opinion, not even the Windows
desktop version: some people claim Windows Skype is inaccessible, but that
is simply not true. It certainly works fine for what I want to use it for,
written Skype chats and spoken Skype conversations: I'm not on Facebook
which can be linked to Skype, and when I tried merging MSN with Skype when
that started it gave up working, so that merger was cancelled and I have
nothing to do with MSN on my Skype any more.
I personally use Skype on Windows 7, which is what I have now. It's true
that there's an app for Skype for Windows 8 and 8.1 which blind people can't
use, but there are still three accessible Skype choices I know of out there,
Windows desktop, Mac and IOS, so, in my opinion, Microsoft is not giving up
on accessibility for Skype or ruining it, and hopefully they will never do
so.

Actually the interface is a lot better then I expected especially for us mac
and ios users, so generalising a statement like that is a bad move as the
interfaces are more stream line and they are willing to work on
accessibility. I'm on discussion wiht one of the devs now actually regarding
the ios interface, and they have implemented all of the fixes we have asked
for.
