Hello Doris,
make sure if the chat has authomatically popped open or even minimized,
due to the request; if it is, focus that and find the "Add to contacts"
button, and press space on it.
If the chat is not opened, try going to the conversations list with
ctrl+2, find the line of the person who sent the request (which you
might recognize because it says "this person is not in your contact
list"), press the applications key and find Add to contacts. Hit enter
on it and you're fine.
