following lee's lead, I updated skype to the latest and skypetalking
is still working with it. I rarely use skypetalking but it is good to
know it still works. my screenrader of joice is jaws where I am still
on jaws 13 on my xp box.

Well if you are still using it with no problems then you must have
6.21 or earlier. Note window-eyes users should also be running
6.21, because the window-eyes app still uses the skype API and it
is really broken under 6.22. it will never get fixed so I hope that
the window-eyes team starts doing what doug is doing with jaws and
getting this information from Microsoft active accessibility. Doug
have you ever thought of writing a window-eyes app for skype that
will work much the same way as the jaws scripts do. I would really
like to get away from jaws and use window-eyes full time, but skype
is one of the few programs that keeps me using jaws.
