You're absolutely right, actually. I thought I fixed this a while back, but that must have been for a different project.
I have updated the Skype area of my web site just now to unify the uses of the various words you mentioned, as follows: A "version" is a major shift in the code. I make a new version when I change which Skype versions I am scripting for. Usually a script version number coincides with the lowest Skype version it supports. A "revision" is a specific instance of the code. There may be more than one revision of a "version," and not all revisions go public. Revisions have numbers, not containing a decimal point. A "release" is a revision I publicize. A "release date" refers to when I did that. Someone once asked me why I don't use the normal major.minor.branch.build notation and just have a single identifier for all of that. A fine question! First because I didn't think of it when I set all this up, and second because I haven't gotten round to revamping my web site, code management system, etc., to make that change. Sorry to all for the confusion. The words release, version and revision are used in different ways in different places leading to a lack of consistency. When I use the letter H in JAWS to skip from heading to heading, I hear Revision 622A then another letter H brings me to the next heading which is revision 893. This is quite confusing. I suggest that you change the heading that reads revision 622A to read Version622A. Also in the body of the text that follows this heading, change "release 6.22A" to "Version 622A". In other words, be consistent about calling a version a version, calling a revision a revision and use either 6.22A or 622a, but not a mix of them. This would greatly improve the clarity. I hope that this helps. Take care, Gerry Ellis If you don't know where you're going, How will you know when you get there? -----Original Message----- From: Skypeenglish [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Doug Lee via Skypeenglish Sent: 16 March 2015 01:05 To: [email protected] Subject: [Skypeenglish] JAWS Skype scripts updated to fix chat focus issues and Skype 7.2 typing indicators I just released a JAWS Skype script update that fixes the typing indicators for Skype 7.2 and fixes a couple of focus issues relating to Skype chats; namely, Alt+Tab into a Skype chat should focus the edit box if no better place seems evident, and Tab/Shift+Tab should not cause focus to spring periodically back to the edit box.
