Hello,

I am sorry for an off-topic messsage, but this is the only Brazilial Linux
group I could find! If there are better places to ask, please direct me.

I am an independent journalist, specializing in free and open source software.
Currently I am writing an overview of government initiatives for FOSS; it is
to be published on CNews.RU, a major Russian IT Internet portal.

The Internet has many reports that Brazil has started a publc sector
transition to open source; 300,000 computers were mentioned. However, I could
not find any reports on progress. Have real gains been achieved? I would
really appreciate any information on the current state of events.

Unfortunately I do not understand Portuguese. English and Russian only.

Thanks!
