Members of the community have got together and come up with a fix to the oblong sculptie ratios which would give us exact control over all LODs for some sculptie map sizes.
https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9384 Unfortunately Qarl doesn't agree with one part of our solution and removing it would basically make a lot of the additional ratios useless. Qarl Linden "unless there's an objection, i'm going to implement everything but the ^2 thing - and you guys are more than welcome to try to get a different linden to take-up your cause." I'm not sure what else I can add to what I've already said in the comments on the Jira, except that a lot of artists would be very happy if someone can take up our cause and convince Qarl that it's worth keeping that part of the patch.
