Hi folks, I've put off really testing the forced upgrade mechanism in Snowglobe, and now I'm regretting it. I picked an arbitrary older version of Snowglobe (1.1.0.2490), and blocked logins. This fails, at least on Mac: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-140
If someone wants to be a hero, this would be a *really* good place to chip in. We're not going to be able to ship Snowglobe without getting a fix for this issue. If anyone needs help in building a viewer that appears to be that release so that you can test, it's a matter of setting the channel to "Snowglobe Test Build" and the version to 1.1.0.2490. The script in scripts/update_version_files.py makes this pretty painless to do. I'd love to see some Windows testing of this issue as well. If you're not a developer, but want to help out, try testing the old Windows build here (noting you won't be able to actually log in with it): http://secondlife.com/developers/opensource/downloads/2009/trunk/2490/Snowglobe_1-1-0-2490_Setup.exe Note that this issue is unrelated to another related issue: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SNOW-18 That one is for optional update. That's totally a web infrastructure thing that is entirely in Linden Lab's hands to fix.
