On a private estate (sorry, but I really can't care less what happens on mainland), you pay for the server. A full sim costs $295 per month. Imho, what you pay for is the server, not the land.
Obviously, it should be possible to USE all resources of that server the way you want. If something is CHANGED that makes that impossible then Linden Lab breaks a contract, and they deserve the largest riot thinkable. With the current proposal it would NOT be possible anymore to use all the resources of a private sim unless you have every parcel owned by the same avatar, and even then you still will lose memory to some unused "avatar pool" to let no less than 35 losers teleport to your sim (who says I want to allow them to teleport to my sim??) that all want to use the maximum amount of ram, which THUS has to be taken from the resources that I PAY for, taken from the owner - so he can no longer use that memory for scripts in objects. No excuse me, but who is paying for the resources of that sim again? The sim owner or those 35 losers that I don't want on my sim anyway?
