Two possible workarounds:
# You can restrict the slf4j version yourself by just declaring a dependency to
slf4j-api explicitly, that is directly in your build files.
# Exclude module-info.java classes from the compilation cycle. It is likely
that the compilation is failing due to module-info.java files which are
specific to Java 9.
