Yeah, you can count on Domino to come up with some wacky URLs.

I didn't evaluate the JDBC stuff because it sounded flaky.  It appears to be
a bridge on top of the core API.  I figured talking directly to the core API
would result in fewer headaches in the long run.

You should try it out and see if it works for you.  If the schema of the
underlying database you're trying to get at is flat, the JDBC API would
probably be appropriate.  Many of the databases that ship with Domino (e.g.
mail DB) tend to be hierarchical.  It may be difficult to get at that data
using JDBC.
