Steve,

 HttpClient in Slide does not support redirects across
servers. You see, if the redirect is for a different
server, then it is the reason for the problem. 
Whenever client gets a redirect, it takes out the path
from location specified in redirect and doesn't care
about the hostname.

I'm not sure about the HTTP specs in this regard but
it's not implemented because of security reasons.
