Hi. I'm a SW engeneer which stand using Apache ver.1.3 like a Web Server for a CGI.BIN application in a Windows NT 4.0 Workstation SP 5 platform. My CGI-BIN shall read and modify a configuration file (file with *.ini extension) which could be resides in every site of the network accessible from the Web Server Station. There aren't any firewall among the Web Server Station and its neighborhood PC: they are connected through a simple HUB. I'm considered both the case in which the file stand local to the Web Server Station that stand in another host. The management of this file it's leaved to a DCOM component running inside the CGI, and I noted that if this later want to control the configuration file which stand locally to the Web Server Station that's OK, but failed the execution when it resides to another machine !!
What's happen? I think that the same confidential level stand between the Web Server Station and any other machine of the network it's not true between the apache environment and the others machine of the network, maybe for a wrong choice of the Apache configuration file. What can I do to resolve this problem? Cordially Eng.
