I guess Stefano wants you to remove your statement that mangnolia supports the JCR API or any other reference to JCR from your websites *for now*. Would you do him this favor so we can return to technical topics here?

I would really appreciate this :)

Cheers and thanks in advance,

Oliver

Thanks Stefano, I now understand it better. I *am* looking forward to the final release and hope that the issues we discussed in the previous days become non-issues then.

I consider the fact that we have developed Magnolia on top of the RI a considerable contribution, as we were able to identify and report back to Stefan Giggisberg several road blocks with the RI in its various incarnations.

I'll let Stefan comment about that, if he feels like it.

- remove the current JCRRI codebase since it's based on 0.8 version of the spec (now at 0.9.5 and substantially different)
- don't commit back anything until JCR is in public review (should happen in a few months or sooner)

I understand that issues like the removal of code are usually discussed with the slide-community, to make sure that nothing gets removed if someone still needs it. I do not quite understand how in this instance, such a discussion was not made public. Can you clarify on this?

This code is a proposal and proposals are, by definition, managed with the ASF "rules of revolutionaries" that say that the committers working on the proposal have the rights on that part of the codebase, not the entire community.

At the same time, we are seriously concerned about brand abuse and, for this reason, action was needed.

Who exactly is "we"?

The JSR 170 expert group.
