going to 1.4 eliminates using Slide at all our old, multi-billion dollar, conservative IT customer sites. They do not use the latest appserver versions nor the do any of them use 1.4 in big productions systems.
Solution: use the apache compatibility libraries and interfaces with 1.3.1 and 1.4 implementations that are loaded depending upon JVM detected.
Yes, I know this is not much fun, I'd love to be using 1.5, but the real world has limited our choices.
