Same problem here, and I have hacked up a patch to fix problems I had with Java1.5 (attached to this email). With this patch, "ant full-dist" now passes OK.
While building the latest Slide under JDK 1.5 some of the classes are failing. This is due to the usage of enum variable for Enumeration. The following are the affected classes.
