I am running into
the exact same issue running Slide under Orion's J2EE application server
(v1.3.8, am going to try with the latest version of Orion soon, 1.4.5).
Any one else successfully deployed Slide on Orion? Or
tried?
Anyway, I am
successfully connecting through the WebDAV servlet as a guest, but never get
prompted for a username or password. I have tried connecting using IE 5
and DAVExplorer, both successfully as a guest user, though MS WebFolders did not
recognize the DAV resource at all. Anyone have any
suggestions?
Thanks for any
advice in advance,
Jason

Subject: Authentication ProblemsHello,I have set up Tomcat 3.2.1 and Slide to be running together. I have uncommented out the section of "web.xml" in my Slide.WAR file that controls authentication, having read about it in previous e-mails in the mailing archive. I have restarted Tomcat several times, and no matter what I do, I am not prompted for a username and password when I go to the http://localhost:8080/slide. Outside users are not asked for permission either. If i go the localhost/examples/jsp/security/protected URL i can see that it does accept usernames and passwords. Perhaps I am mistaken, but I thought if you changed the "web.xml" file that authentication should take place when going to the http://localhost:8080/slide page.Another problem I have is trying to connect to my Tomcat site through UltraDev 4's WebDAV capabilities. I can connect to it, but I am not authorized to create anything or move anything. The Tomcat console tells me that "access is denied by "user /users/guest for action /actions/write", which tells me that the username/password I supplied to UltraDev 4 is not being validated by Tomcat.Any advice or help on this subject is much appreciated...Thanks,Tom
