Access control

Hi,  Imagine you had an application like slide for database resources( tables, views,...). In that case, do you think the access control would be improved compare to the having usual servlets and jsp to access the database via the web? if yes, how? In other word, by http servlets and jsp, if somebody had authority to write servlet (java program) , he could access to whole database. Do you think it is the same in my imaginary slide?   Any pointer is appreciated, Bita.
