  Thanks. That could be one of the reason.

  After I received several tips and re-examined my setup.
  I noticed there are two domain.xml: one in jakarta-tomcat-4.0 and
  one in jakarta-tomcat-4.0\webapps\slide. The first one is configured
  to JDBC, and the latter one is configured to use memory.
  I think Slide server was using the latter one which I modified
  it to use JDBC. And it is fine now.
