I do find this an interesting point though... The possibility to get a 'mixed' or 'union' view, of a contentstore and a preexisting directory or a webapp would be interesting. In particular 'mixing' a webapp (also in a .war file) and the contentstore would be of interest - the webapp would provide an immutable base structure, and functionality, while the contentstore would version the site content. Also the nodestore implementation defaults to slidestore.reference.MemoryDescriptorsStore which of course gets recreated on reboot.
