I think this will fail for most stores. The question is, whether the store
saves URLs relative to its scope. While I think, there is nothing in 
the Slide API, that stops a store from saving relative Uris,but most 
(all ?) stores use absolute Uri. 

You are using the JDBCDescriptorsStore? Try "select uri from objects".  The 
Uris are absolute :-(.
