Sorry, for my obviously mistakable statements. To make it very clear:
1. When talking about decoupling I was talking about the wrapper things that are still limited to Tomcat as far as I know.
2. Those wrappers are valuable!
3. IMHO Tomcat is no piece of junk at all, but there are people who for one or the other reason need / want to use Weblogic, WS, Jetty or whatever. At least the authentication stuff would be good to be solved in general. What do you thing about a JAAS solution? I am really not very much into security stuff, so your comment is very appreciated.
4. By taking over more responsibility in the Slide project - which I understand is your child - I do not and did not want to cut any of your influence. I am sure I not only speak for myself when I say I am glad to see you around in this list lately. I am not trying to get control over the Slide project, but merge peoples efforts into a new release which I presume will be very good for Slide.
5. It might look like I am doing too much for myself, not sharing my efforts, but this is solely due to the administrative problem of missing commit rights (which is about to be solved now, I suppose). I will make everything publicly avaliable as soon as I can. I did not want to post my stuff into the lists, as this rises the risk of new branching. I'd rather like to have it in one central place: the CVS.
6. I really try to let my personal interests and then the particular interests of my company stand back behind the collective goal of having a new Slide release. If you have the impression this is not the case, please feel free tell me so, either in this list or directly by email.
7. Still, whatever you and Stefano may or may not have with each other, if he has something valuable to contribute, why not? Let's see.
8. What do you mean by *you two are now in charge*? How come you think Stefano is in charge of the Slide project?
Cheers,
Oliver

any help is appreciated! Maybe we should wait what Stefano might propose to decouple Slide from Tomcat even more.
I can help fix the Tomcat integration eventually if it's broken (I did it in the first place).
It should be very obvious that Slide isn't coupled to Tomcat in any way. There are a few extra features: additional wrappers to allow webapps to be run from the Slide repository, with integrated security and an admin webapp to manage the users. At the time, I thought this was valuable functionality.
Of course, I understand one of Stephano's urges is apparently to get rid of that Tomcat piece of junk as soon as possible (it must be an Italian thing). Since you two are now in charge, you decide :)
