Or does Lucene already allow you to index office documents?
I can't help you with the Slide-specific question, but as for Lucene I know a little. Lucene itself has no knowledge of files or Office documents. It is up to the developer building around Lucene to hand text to Lucene. Whether that text is extracted from a file system file, a database, or out of thin air, Lucene doesn't know or care.
