My 2 cents...:
1) DAV:displayname shouldn't be a live property. If it's always identical to the last path segment it (a) is completely useless and (b) certainly isn't a "...a name for the resource that is suitable for presentation to a user" as required by RFC2518.
2) If it indeed *is* live, attempts to modify it MUST fail with an appropriate status code (in a 207 multistatus response body).
