I use the following way:

- in your domain.xml add the following to the root element named slide
  <slide logger="log4j.Log4jLogger" logger-level="6">
  (I think logger.level may any up to 7)
- put a log4j.properties file to your slides WEB-INF/classes path
  and config what do you want to log
