These release is already there, but the distributions currently are being checked, so I did not sent the announce mail, yet.

Just like internal security locking can be switched off in slide.properties like I explained before. The locking properties determines if locks set by the LOCK method are being checked. If you use MS Office I would not recommend switching it off as Word actually uses locking.

Checkin as you noticed before is the slowest, because a lot of resources are being touched and changed. I will try to find a speedup for 2.2...

Hi Oliver,
Thanks for your reply. You are always forthcoming and helping.
We need autoversioning but may be I can try switch off locking.
As I understand it, if I trun it off then multiple users can checout file and last checkin will be final, isn't it? How do I switch it off? In Domain.xml?
I do not see 2.1 version yet. Where can I get it? rd.

Hi rd,

I agree that Slide presently may not have an appropriate performance level for certain scenarios, especially massive concurrent write scenarios.

You say you do not need the full functionality. Have you thought of switchitng off autoversions, security and maybe even locking? The performance gain should be considerable.

If this is not enough, maybe you should go and try to implement your own helper classes. A lot of overhead and repeated requests is hidden there. However, this will be hard work...

If all else fails you might consider your own WebDAV layer and take Slide's as a starting point. Use the Slide's testsuite to ensure your implementation does what it should.

Hi,

We wanted to use slide as our rerository but could not get the required performance
level. So we are thinking of building something fro our requirements as we think we
may not need full pledge functionality anyway.

Can anybody point me to some useful documents/links for doing this? How can we make
sure that we achieve the performance required?

Thanks,
rd.
