I'm pretty sure that you can't remove a file from version control once it is
under control. There is definitely no specified means to do so. And the
properties on the file don't alone don't govern whether the document is
under version control as there are entries in the version DB tables, etc, so
you probably wouldn't be able to make it un-version controlled without
hacking the slide server.

Jussi, what's the metadata that you want to be able to change on the
document without checking it in /out?
