I'm not a WebDAV/slide guru either, so this might be a real stupid comment,
but did you use the http:// protocol prefix?
(Don't even know whether it is nessecary, but i use it in my code and it
works...)
Further, are you sure the host is up and using port 80 (simply check via
browser)
furthermore, i believe the article on onjava is using a older version of
slide, with a slightly different api afaik...
