Hi JV,

I have established the connection as specified on
http://jakarta.apache.org/slide/xp.html with Windows XP and it works fine.
I use the following network addressed when asked for it:
http://localhost:8050/slide/files/

When I use MS Office to store/retrieve files I always go to that Webfolder
that was created under My Network Places.

Yes, for me it works with all Office XP, Office 2000 and Office 2003
products. I have not tried Office 2007.

Regards,

Zeus

Subject: Connecting Windows XP client to Jakarta Slide webdav via MS Office

Hi there!

I've had problems connecting to a Slide webdav server with Windows XP. I
know Windows does not follow the standard and has problems with this.
I've tried several manuals on how to do this, but they don't work for me.

Even the XP manual on the Jakarta Slide website doesn't work for me.
http://jakarta.apache.org/slide/xp.html

But last week I tried to connect directly from MS Word, and that worked.
Surprisingly the connection turned up in the explorer, and I could use
it in other applications from then on.

I saved the document, and in the filename field, I typed in the following:

http://www.yourdomain.com/slide/files/test.doc

Then I got the login window, which worked like it should. I use Office
2003. I don't know if this works in Office 2000 or XP. I hope it still
works in Office 2007, and that they will fix this in Vista. If someone
could confirm if it works or not, that would be nice.

I just wanted to share this with you, as most people who use XP have
Word installed.

If you have working solutions to solve this problem otherwise, I'm
always interested.

JV
