Ich habe ähnliches mit einem SheevaPlug und 2 USB Festplatten erreicht. Suche mal nach SqueezePlug im Google, da gibt es umfangreiche Anleitungen. In Summe kommt man so glaube ich billiger weg als mit nem QNap, der Linux Bastelspaß ist ansonsten der gleiche.
Eine Festplatte ist die Hauptfestplatte, die zweite hält die Backups, die nächtlich gezogen werden. Zusätzlich gehen die wichtigsten Daten automatisch in der Nacht auf ein Strato Highdrive hoch. Cups server war es früher mal, inzwischen ist das aber einem WLAN Drucker gewichen.
